Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

You can schedule your appointment by heading to the “Book Now” section of our website, or by contacting us via phone at 314-369-3669 or email at hamanshealinghands.com. We are by appointment only (no walk ins) and recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date, time, and massage therapist.

What is your draping procedure?

We strictly enforce the state of Missouri’s draping policy, which requires that massage therapists cover the client’s body with a sheet, exposing only the part of the body being worked on. Clients may choose their comfort level for undressing. This policy exists as a legal and ethical standard to maintain modesty, privacy, and professional boundaries. Our biggest priority is making sure that both client and massage therapist are comfortable and safe during their service!

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling of your appointment. This allows us to be fair to both your massage therapist as well as other clients who are wanting to get in.

We always send one reminder text two days before your appointment and two reminder emails- one week before, and two days before. You will find the options to cancel or reschedule your appointment at the bottom of this email. Whether you are using this option or reaching out to a team member directly, please be sure you receive a confirmation text or email back to ensure that your cancel/change has gone through. This will ensure that you are not marked as a no-show appointment and that you will not lose your 50% deposit!

We understand that things happen, so exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances and for our prenatal clients- please just be sure to reach out via text at 314-369-3669.

If you are not receiving your reminder texts or emails, please let us know so that we can opt you back in.

What can I expect from a massage session?

You’ve made it to our waiting room- now what?

If you are a first time guest, we will provide an intake form for you to fill out some basic information. Your massage therapist will greet you and lead you to your room, where you will discuss any areas of concern and what you are hoping to achieve from the service. Your therapist will then leave the room to allow you to get undressed and lay on the massage table face-down with the sheet covering your lower body. After several minutes, they will knock to make sure you are modest and ready to go. The therapist will then begin service, and about halfway through you will flip and lay on your back (still covered by the sheet). You can choose to chat with your therapist throughout service, or enjoy the quiet. Please do not hesitate to speak up about anything that feels wrong or any changes that need to be made to the service (example: asking for less pressure in a tender area of the body). Communication is key, and all of our therapists are open to feedback! At the end of your service, your massage therapist will ask about your choice of beverage- we offer water, fruit-infused water, hot tea, Liquid IV, and even wine! Your therapist will then leave the room to prepare your drink and allow you time to get dressed. When finished, they will meet you outside of your room with your beverage and you will head to the front desk to pay for your service!

Can I bring my child?

We understand that childcare can be hard to come by, so if you need to bring your little one, you have two options- during service, your child can either be in the room with you, (seated in the corner) or in our waiting room. The choice is yours as we want parent and child to be as comfortable as possible! Please be sure that your child maintains their best behavior and is provided with entertainment during the service to keep the environment quiet and relaxing for you as well as our other guests.

How often should I get a massage?

Frequency of massage completely depends on individual preferences- you can work with your massage therapist to address your needs and find a frequency that works for you. Generally, we see our regulars on a monthly basis.

Are there any contraindications for getting a massage?

Avoid getting massages if you are dealing with any of the following:

-first trimester of pregnancy, or at any point during high-risk pregnancy

-fever or contagious illnesses

-recent surgery or injury

-history of blood clotting disorders

-osteoporosis

-intoxication
